Scottish Stag whiskey: history and review of the drink

Scotch scotches are highly appreciated by spirits lovers around the world. The Russian consumer is no exception, for whom famous distillers even create separate whiskey brands.

One of these products is the Scottish Stag blend, developed specifically for the taste of domestic scotch lovers.

The history of the Scottish Stag brand

The creator of the unique brand is one of the giants of the alcohol industry - Ian Macleod Distillers.

It is noteworthy that the company is not one of the oldest whiskey producers: it was founded only in 1936, and until the early 2000s did not even own a single distillery. At the origins of the large concern stood an unknown whiskey broker Leonard Russell at that time. It began its activity as an intermediary between malt spirits producers and blend makers.

From the very first steps in the business world, the entrepreneur set a course for independence, choosing only the best products among a wide range of products. And this strategy brought the company success.

In the 1950s, Leonard's son Peter joined the family business and began to actively buy up alcohol brands. Thus, the company's portfolio includes Isle of Skye and King Robert II scotches, London Hill gin and many other brands.

In 2003, the first own distillery "Glengoyne" was acquired, and a few years later the second - "Tamdhu". Gradually, the company has grown into a large-scale enterprise that sells more than 15 million bottles of alcohol per year. It was the first in Scotland to start bottling alcohol specifically for supermarkets, and is one of the few family-owned firms that has retained its independence among whisky producers.

The Scottish Stag brand was added to the legendary company's portfolio in 2000.

The name of the drink translates as "Scottish deer". The label of the adhesive tape is decorated with the image of a proud animal - a symbol of strength and grace. A high-quality, inexpensive blend quickly gained popularity not only in Russia but also in North Asia.
