Champagne Mondoro: an overview of taste and types + how to distinguish a fake

The history of the Mondoro brand dates back to 1878, when a simple champagne lover, the Italian Enrico Serafino, produced his first bottle of sparkling wine. The public loved the drink and accepted it with undisguised enthusiasm.

Types of Mondoro champagne and taste overview

Initially, champagne was produced in the town of Montecchio in the Asti region.

But over time, wine production technologies have changed, and the drink has been filtered using pressure.

This is how sparkling wine from Italy entered a new stage and became truly unsurpassed.

Its perfect flavor and aromatic bouquet allowed the drink to bear the proud name of Italian champagne.

  1. Mondoro Asti

White sweet champagne. Made from the Muscat grape variety.

The drink contains sugar in the amount of 90 g per 1 liter, its strength is 7.5%.

The taste is characterized by a pleasant sweetness, but without cloying. The sweetish tint is diluted with a slight sourness.

The aroma of the wine contains notes of nutmeg grape varieties, as well as floral aromas and honey tones.

The drink should be served after cooling to 6-8°C. Light desserts, fruits and ice cream will make a great company for it.

  2. Mondoro Brut

White dry champagne, has a light straw color, close to white. This brand is characterized by the presence of 11% alcohol.

The taste is distinguished by grape tones mixed with a subtle hint of flowers.

The aroma of the drink is juicy, which is due to special grape varieties.

The wine can be used as an aperitif, as well as consumed with seafood, cheeses, fruits and desserts.

  3. Mondoro Rose

Semi-sweet sparkling wine with a beautiful pink color. This champagne is even stronger than the classic champagne of the same brand (9.5% alcohol).

The taste of the drink is sweet and balanced with moderate refreshing acidity. The presence of fresh juicy fruits is felt in the champagne.

Its aroma is exquisite, saturated with nuances of red fruits and wild berries, especially raspberries.

An excellent aperitif option. Should be served with light snacks, fruits and desserts.

Its taste is quite spicy, with a combination of sweetness and sourness, created by a palette of pear and peach, which is complemented by delicate honey. Playful bubbles add charm to the drink and give a long aftertaste.

The aroma is saturated with shades of peach, apple and pear, a slightly perceptible floral bouquet.

Serve the wine at 6-8°C with light salads or desserts. The drink is good for creating cocktails, for example: Bellini.

How to distinguish a fake Mondoro champagne

  1. The first rule applies to all original alcoholic beverages - the labels on their bottles are glued on exactly, neatly. The inscriptions on the labels are correct, without any errors.

  2. Mondoro's label also indicates the composition of the sparkling wine and the grape variety.

  3. Pay special attention to the composition! The strength of the drink does not exceed 11%.

  4. Check for an individual barcode on the bottle.

  5. The cork in the original Mondoro bottle is made exclusively of cork oak. The top of the bottle is covered with a golden protective film with the Mondoro brand embossed on it, and the imprint of a circle in the middle is marked with the letter A. The word Asti is written around the cork and the code is indicated.

  6. A genuine bottle is easy to distinguish from its counterparts - it has a beautiful emerald green color with spirals running down the entire perimeter of the container.

  7. Under the label on the bottle, you can feel the circle-shaped dots and one oval hollow.

  8. There are embossed lines on the bottom of the bottle, which indicate the date of bottling.

  9. Note to yourself that the volume, namely 750ml, is indicated only in English notation.

  10. An excise stamp is required, unless Mondoro is purchased in a free trade zone.

Now you know what types of Mondoro are and can easily distinguish a fake from the original product. Just remember to follow the instructions and study the product you are buying.
