Hawthorn tincture: 3 recipes at home

What do you associate hawthorn tincture with? Probably with pharmacy preparations in dark glass bottles. But few people know that these berries can be used to make delicious drinking tinctures that will decorate any feast.
It is not difficult to prepare hawthorn tincture at home. To do this, we need to take a berry of any variety, since today there are more than 300 types of them.
Tips before you start
It is better to take dried raw materials, but if you have a fresh berry, then you need to take twice as much as indicated in the recipe.
As for the alcoholic component, everything is also simple: vodka, alcohol, and double-distilled moonshine. You can also take gin or good but inexpensive cognac as an experiment.
It is important to remember that hawthorn does not have a pronounced taste and aroma, and therefore it is recommended to infuse it with other more saturated ingredients, such as cinnamon, honey, various herbs, vanillin, and others.

A simple recipe for hawthorn tincture
The ingredients
Red dried hawthorn - 1 glass
Food alcohol (50%) - 800 ml
Small cinnamon stick - 1 pc.
Honey - 1 tbsp. л.
Vanillin - 1 pinch
The method of preparation
Pour the berries into a glass vessel, add a cinnamon stick and pour alcohol over them.
Insist the tincture for about three weeks in a dark place at room temperature. During this time, the berries will give their color to the drink and turn pale yellow.
After the expiration of the term, the tincture must be filtered and then filtered.
Now heat the honey a little, mix it with vanilla and add the aromatic mixture to the tincture.
Shake the container with the drink and leave it for another week to stabilize the taste.
Before tasting, drain the drink from the sediment, filter it again and pour it into a bottle.

Spicy aromatic tincture of spicy hawthorn
Ingredients
Hawthorn - 5 g
Moonshine (50%) - 1 liter
St. John's wort, lemon balm, oregano and peppermint - 5 g of each herb
Bitter wormwood, marjoram, thyme, sweet clover, white letter - 2.5 g each
Cardamom seeds and anise (not star anise) - 1.25 g each
The method of preparation
First, weigh each of the ingredients on a kitchen scale and pour them into a glass container.
Then pour in alcohol and leave for a week in a dark place.
After the expiration of the aging period, strain and filter the tincture.
You can also add granulated sugar if you wish - no more than one teaspoon per liter of tincture.
Leave the drink for a couple of days to stabilize the taste and you can take a sample.
Hawthorn tincture with rose hips and galangal
Ingredients
Dried hawthorn - 2 tbsp. л.
Vodka - 500 ml
Dried rose hips - 1 tbsp.
Ground galangal root - 0.5 tsp.
Granulated sugar - 50 g
Water - 50 ml
Method of preparation
Pour the hawthorn into a glass container, add vodka and leave for one month in a warm, dark place. Shake the contents of the container once a week.
Then strain the infusion, and squeeze the pulp well.
We make a classic from water and granulated sugar sugar syrup.
After it has cooled, mix the syrup with the tincture and keep it for about 3-5 days under the same conditions.
Now filter and bottle the finished tincture.
Drink strength - 30-32 degrees, shelf life - 3 years. Serve chilled to the table.
