Franciscaner beer: an overview of flavors and types

Franziskaner (German.) - is a brand of German weissbier produced in Munich, Germany, by the Bavarian brewery Spaten-Franziskaner Broe.
History of Franziskaner
The history of Franziskaner dates back to 1363, when it was first mentioned that the brewer Seidel Waterstetter was the owner of a "brewery next to the Franciscans" located on one of Munich's Residentzstrasse streets. The brewery got the name Franziskaner from the monastery that was located next door to it.
In 1841, the company was bought by Augustin Diegelmeyer, the adopted son of the owner of the Spaten brewery, Gabriel Seddlemeyer Sr. He is moving the production of the drink to Lilienberg and modernizing its production technology. In 1861, the brewery has a new owner - Joseph Siedelmayr, son of Gabriel Sedlmayr Sr. and owner of the Leist brewery.
In 1909, Gabriel Siedelmayr III, the son of Josef Siedelmayr, merges the Franziskaner-Leist plant into the family-owned joint-stock company Joseph Sedlmayr Zum Franziskanerkeller AG. This is how the Siedelmeyer family business, a united company that produces beer, was created. In 1935, with the help of the painter Ludwig Holwein, the brand received its trademark: a Franciscan monk holding a mug of beer.
