Sheridans: what it is + how to drink black and white liqueur

Sheridans (from the English. Sheridans) - is one of the youngest alcoholic beverages on earth. The liquor originated in Ireland in the mid-90s of the last century. It consists of such ingredients as whiskey, cream, vanilla flavoring, chocolate, coffee and, of course, sugar. The strength of the liqueur is 15.5 degrees.

About Sheridans liqueur

This drink grew out of the local tradition of making milk and cream liqueurs. But despite its patriarchal roots, it is an undeniable innovation in the world of alcohol. It's all about its packaging. This drink is sold in bottles consisting of two isolated compartments. One of them contains a creamy liqueur, the other - chocolate, coffee or berry.

These drinks are poured through separate holes in the neck of the bottle. The density of the beverages, the shape of the container and the diameter of the holes are calibrated so that twice as much coffee-chocolate mixture is poured out of the bottle as creamy vanilla mixture during the same period of time. Consider several options for drinking Sheridans liqueur.

Sheridans in its purest form

In its pure form, Sheridans is drunk from small glasses with a volume of 40 to 60 milliliters. At the moment, there are 2 methods of drinking Sheridans liqueur.

The first of them, which is the most appropriate for the essence of the drink, provides for its serving in the form of a layered shot. The liquor is poured into a glass in layers so that its dark layer is at the bottom. To do this, the glass is tilted at a 45-degree angle, and the drink is poured in a thin stream down the wall of the glass. In this case, the compartment with the chocolate, coffee or berry component of the liquor should be on top. The 90%-filled container is leveled and, after the layers have taken on a horizontal position, is drunk without a snack in a gulp or through a straw. In the latter case, you should start with the bottom layer.

The second method involves drinking the drink in a mixed form. That is, after filling the glass, its contents should be shaken. If you want to cool the drink, put an ice cube on the bottom of the still empty container. The mixed liqueur is enjoyed in small sips and eaten with soft sweet pastries or ice cream.

Sheridans with other drinks

Like many other liqueurs, this Irish drink goes well with black tea, hot chocolate and, of course, coffee. At the same time, if you decide to add this very sweet liqueur to a hot drink, you can safely save on sugar.

Also, many people managed to appreciate Sheridans in various cocktails. Among them we can mention: "Light Storm" and "Creamy Paradise".

But mixing Sheridans with sour or sweet and sour juices is highly undesirable. The cream contained in it instantly curdles at the slightest touch. The liquor reacts very painfully to attempts to combine it with any carbonated drinks.
