Bisquit cognac: a guide to alcohol

About the Bisquit brand

Since its opening in 1819 and to this day, the Bisquit cognac house has remained among the European leaders in the production of cognac.

Many representatives of monarchical families and political figures preferred this brand of cognac: King George IV, Nicholas II, Winston Churchill. At the time of George V, the company was granted the right to be called the "official supplier of the royal court".

Every year, from November to March, the cellar master and other professional distillers create eaux-de-vie - cognac spirit that will become premium cognac. Double distillation is carried out in Charente alambics. Cognac is produced only from Uni Blanc grapes harvested in the Charente region.

The highlight of the production is a longer distillation - on average, the process lasts an hour longer than in other cognac houses. This method makes it possible to achieve a special smoothness and flavorfulness of the drink.

The history of the Bisquit brand in brief

The starting point in the history of Bisquit is considered to be 1819, when 20-year-old Alexandre Bisquit used his family heritage and experience to create a cognac house in Zharnak. The family owned more than 200 hectares of vineyards and, since 1750, two generations of his ancestors have been engaged in distillation, but until Alexander, no one tried to gain independence by creating their own brand. Subsequently, his son-in-law Adrian Dubouché entered the business as a partner, and the company received a new name - Bisquit Dubouché Et Cie.

In 1991, Bisquit merged with another cognac house and came under the control of Pernod Ricard as Renault-Bisquit.

In 2009, a new stage in the company's history began: it was acquired by the South African group Distell. The new owner bought and restored the Chateau de Ligner, built in the late XIX century.

In 2010, the cognac house launched its products in South Africa.
