Bakhchisaray cognac: history and overview of types

Crimean cognacs are famous for their quality and rich taste far beyond the borders of their homeland, regularly receiving awards at international competitions.

The products of Bakhchisarai Brewery are no exception. According to the results of Roskachestvo research, the Crimean cognac was recognized as the best among domestic samples, receiving an overall score of 4.7 points.

Brand history

Winemaking in the Crimea was practiced long before the emergence of official wine and cognac production. This was facilitated by the climate favorable for growing grapes, close to the conditions of Bordeaux, Turin and Tuscany, and the developed trade in the region. Local beverages were actively sold to Europe, and monastery wine was especially popular.

The wine shop in Bakhchisarai was opened only in 1963. Initially, it consisted of a small screw press and several containers for processing raw materials. After the reconstruction, the company has its own warehouses, cellars, and bottling lines. The expansion of capacities allowed to increase the volume of processed grapes to 10-20 thousand tons per year.

Today, Bakhchisaray distillery produces a wide range of alcoholic beverages: wine, balsams, cider, vermouth, tinctures, vodka, cognacs...

The raw materials for their production are grown on the plantations of the Zapovitne agricultural company.

Along with indigenous varieties, European ones are cultivated here: Riesling, Aligote, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, etc.

The plant is a full-cycle enterprise, independently performing all operations: from fruit processing to bottling of finished drinks.

Types of "Bakhchisaray" cognac

Cognac production at the enterprise is organized according to the French model. The distillation is carried out in sharan-type cubes, oak barrels are used for aging.

The process is carefully controlled by the hereditary winemaker, the company's technologist Vitaliy Lukanin, who is the author of the legendary blend "Bakhchisaray".
