Baba Yaga absinthe: an alcohol guide

An overview of absinthe

Somewhere in the shade of centuries-old trees, Baba Yaga, a witch with iron teeth, the ruler of the forest, is hiding. She lives in a hut on chicken legs, explores forests and shores, collecting herbs for her elixir. The healer Baba Yaga will cure the sick and punish the negligent.

This legend was invented by the Canadian agency Hired Guns Creative for a new absinthe from the Arbutus Distillery. The designers depicted Baba Yaga's iron teeth, which are made more convincing by two types of foil and embossed details.

The outer label shows a dense forest with trees, where the trunks are chicken legs, and the illustrators have hidden the image of four skulls in the roots.

This 100% natural absinthe from Canada is traditionally distilled with wormwood, anise, fennel, lemon balm, and mint. The finished alcohol with a strength of 60% is infused with a large number of herbs and plant substances, which gives the alcohol a natural green/greenish-yellow color. Therefore, over time, a natural chlorophyllous sediment may form in the bottle.

Vzboltai considers this absinthe to be an ideal gift, and it is also suitable for drinking on by classical methods and in the composition cocktails. The only disappointing thing is that the manufacturer did not specify the amount of thujone in the drink, but it is definitely there.

The taste is pronounced, sweet, licorice, with herbal notes, light citrus and mint.

The best combinations from the manufacturer: on ice (often as a digestif), in combination with sparkling wine and in in cocktails.
