Acura wine: overview, types, how to drink

An unusual drink with a typically oriental name is produced not in Japan, as one might assume, but in Bulgaria.

Dolna Banya winery, located in the south-west of the country, in the Thracian lowlands, produces it.

In fact, the product is not even wine, but a wine drink: in addition to grapes, fruit flavors and syrup are added to its composition. Akura can be white and red, depending on the raw materials used in the production.

Briefly about the company and products

Dolna Banya Winery is a young Bulgarian winery founded in 1974.

For 20 years it operated under the brand name "Kiril Lazarov" and produced fruit wines.

In 1994, after becoming part of the large company "Ivena Commerce", the company changed its name and became known as "Dolna Banya".

In addition to the low-alcohol Akura, the plant's assortment includes classic Bulgarian wines ("Kadarka", "Tamianka", "Monastyrsko Shushukane"), sparkling and strong drinks.

The annual production volume is about 12 million bottles, most of the products are exported.

The company has its own cellars for aging red and white wines, a modern laboratory for assessing the quality of beverages - one of the best in Bulgaria.

The plant buys raw materials for the production of alcohol from local farmers.

For the production of semi-sweet Akura, natural white or red table wine is used as a base, flavored with fruit and berry ingredients, diluted with water and syrup to the required strength of 8.5%.

The result is a light drink with different flavors and shades.

Available in 0.75 liter glass bottles and 1-2 liter tetra packs.
