Whiskey Passport Scotch: history and review of the drink

The young blended whiskey "Passport Scotch", bottled in original green bottles with a bright "heraldic" label, belongs to the "standard" category.
In its price segment, the drink is considered one of the best and is in stable demand among fans of classic Scottish blends: annual sales are more than one and a half million copies. The main sales markets are concentrated in Eastern Europe, Brazil, Angola, Mexico, India and Russia.
History of whiskey Passport Scotch
The drink's recipe was developed in 1965 by Jimmy Lang, who later worked on creating blends for Chivas Brothers.
"The heart of the blend is Speyside single malt spirits produced at the Strathisla and Glen Keith distilleries. The new product was intended for fans of light blended whiskeys and was supplied exclusively for export.
The period of birth of the Passport brand coincided with the rebellious era of the 60s, marked by the cultural revolution, reassessment of values and the conquest of outer space. The spirit of change is reflected in the character of the new drink and its symbols on the label. Each of the 5 coats of arms conveys a certain meaning: flexibility, freedom, passion for adventure and discovery, fortitude and purity of intentions.
In the 70s, the blend was replenished with new malt ingredients produced by the young distilleries Allt-a-Bhainne and Braes of Glenlivet (modern Braeval). A little later, alcohols distilled at Glenlivet and other oldest distilleries began to be used in the blend.
The Glen Keith distillery, which for a long time supplied components for the popular drink, was closed at the end of the XX century and resumed its work only in 2013. After the reconstruction, its sweet floral and fruity spirits have once again taken their place in the Passport Scotch lineup.
Since 2001, the brand has been owned by Pernod Ricard.
