Rum Barcelo: an overview of the types and flavors of the brand

The Dominican rum Barceló was launched in 1929. The new brand was founded by Juliano Barcelo, a native of Spain. The main advantage of the drink is the addition of pure cane juice to the brew, which automatically reduces the amount of harmful fusel oils in the finished distillate.
In 2006, the family business was bought by the Spanish distributor of the product, MG. At the same time, the descendants of the company's founder joined the board of directors of the renewed company, which was named Ron Barceló SRL.
Drink varieties
The Barcelo line includes 9 products. The strength of most of them is 37.5 degrees.
Barcelo Blanco (Barcelo Blanco rum)
Colorless drink, slightly refined by aging. Its aroma contains hints of white pepper and green bananas, and its taste contains banana and pepper-cinnamon hints.
In addition to the basic colorless version, there are two more "white" versions of the drink:
Barcelo Blanco Añejado
A distillate aged for a year, whose taste and aroma are characterized by the presence of a coconut cappuccino theme, set off by nutty and minty undertones.
Barcelo Blanco Gran Platinum
An original product that undergoes six years of aging and subsequent filtration.
The result of the above manipulations is fruity vanilla aroma components with a pronounced citrus accent, as well as lemon and eucalyptus notes in the taste, accompanied by a sweetish aftertaste with a slight pepper hint.
The "colored" varieties of the brand we are interested in are represented by the following brands:
Barcelo Dorado (Barcelo Dorado rum)
A golden drink that has spent a year in a bourbon barrel. Hence, creamy and woody motifs in the taste and a long spicy-raisin aftertaste.
Barcelo Añejo (Barcelo Añejo rum)
A dark noble elixir, whose rich amber color testifies to its four-year aging.
It has a rounded fruity and chocolate flavor, which gradually turns into a cherry aftertaste, accompanied by light pepper and tobacco associations.
Barcelo Gran Añejo (Barcelo Gran Añejo rum)
Elite dark amber alcohol that has been soaking in bourbon barrels for five years.
The aroma of the drink is interspersed with vanilla, malt, fragrant tobacco and anise.
The buttery chocolate flavor ends with a caramel and nutty aftertaste.
Barcelo Imperial (Barcelo Imperial rum)
Reddish-amber ten-year old aristocrat with a strength of 38 degrees.
The taste and aroma are reminiscent of candied pineapple, ripe fruit, vanilla ice cream, coffee caramel and roasted nuts.
Barcelo Imperial Premium Blend
Released in 2011 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the previous brand.
Accordingly, it consists of a blend of 30 cane distillates, previously aged in bourbon barrels from one to three decades.
Finally, the resulting blend spends another two years in Bordeaux barrels.
This viscous 43-degree elixir of rich dark amber color harmoniously combines the motifs of coffee, chocolate, fruit, tobacco, spices, nuts and creamy desserts inherent in the previously mentioned varieties of the Dominican drink.
Barcelo Cream
A 17-degree creamy liqueur created on the basis of ordinary white rum.
It has a balanced tropical flavor with elements of coconut, pineapple, vanilla and almonds.
