Types of beer kegs

Traditionally, beer storage containers were made of wood, later they were replaced by metal and polyethylene barrels.
Since the middle of the XX century, the most popular packaging for the foamy beverage has been sealed stainless steel kegs. Their popularity was facilitated by the invention of the fitting (filler head), which turned metal kegs into an ideal option for storing, transporting and bottling beer.
Types of kegs
Beer containers differ primarily in size. The kegs are available in 10-15, 20-25, 30, 50 and 100 liter sizes.
Vessels with a volume of up to 20 liters are called "Party-kegs" because they are popular at youth parties and picnics.
100-liter kegs are found mainly in Czech breweries, they rarely come to the CIS countries.
The following types of kegs are most common on the domestic market:
-
DIN
The most popular - high and narrow - version of a metal barrel. In the CIS, it is usually called "dean".
-
EURO}

-

They are characterized by not very strong handles and a short service life (up to 5 years).

They were nicknamed "pluses" and "rubber bands" for their special design.
Less common are SLIM, RSR (Rubber Steel Rubber), ECO, Kornelius kegs.
PET kegs
They are considered disposable, unlike steel kegs, which can be used repeatedly (up to 30 years). Presented in 15-30 liter containers.
The advantages of plastic options are: light weight and low price.
Kegs by type of fitting
