Villa Antinori wine: history, features and types

The fertile lands of Tuscany have produced many great winemakers and given birth to many famous drinks. The most famous of them is the unusual dry wine Chianti, which is made from the local Sangiovese variety.
The Villa Antinori winery also specializes in the production of the legendary drink, but devotes more time to experiments, creating new wines with original flavors.
History of the Villa Antinori company
Family winery "Marchesi L&P Antinori was registered as an independent production unit at the end of the XIX century.
However, the family began growing grapes and making alcohol long before that date.
Back in the XII century, the founder of the ancient family name, who lives in his own castle near Florence, showed an interest in the art of wine.
The hobby has been passed down from generation to generation, gaining more and more scope and turning into a profitable business.
A significant milestone for the family was in 1385, when Giovanni di Piero Antinori joined the Florentine winemakers' guild. This date is considered to be the beginning of the history of the famous brand
After buying a country estate and a family residence in the center of Florence, the products of the Antinori house gained popularity among the locals.
Today, the famous family owns vineyards in different regions of Italy (Tuscany, Piedmont, Lombardy, Umbria, Puglia) and abroad (in Chile, Hungary and California).
Features of Antinori wines
The company produces mainly ordinary table drinks, which are highly appreciated in the domestic market.
Many consumers mistakenly refer to the brand's products as elite wines, referring to the "IGT", which can be found on Antinori bottles.
However, this labeling only indicates affiliation with the Tuscan region and does not mean a special position in the hierarchy of Italian beverages.
The first Chianti was produced by the company in 1928.
The technology of its production has been constantly modernized and improved.
As a result, the original red dry wine "Villa Antinori Rosso" and its white grape counterpart appeared.
Both beverages are the pride of the company and combine the best Tuscan traditions with experimental methods introduced by family winemakers.
The creator of the famous wines was not afraid to change the classic composition of Chianti and include, in addition to the traditional Sangiovese, French varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah.
Having thus lost the privilege of naming the products "Chianti", the winemaker received a unique drink with an individual taste that is in no way inferior to the best grape specimens of Tuscany.
Today, Villa Antinori produces this wine in large volumes and supplies it to different countries, while maintaining the same quality and original bouquet.
Local winemakers use it in beverages:
Manual collection of raw materials.
Soft crest separation and pressing.
Fermentation at low temperatures to preserve the freshness and fragile aroma of the fruit.
Steel tanks for aging light wort and oak barrels for aging dark wort.
Malolactic fermentation.
Different aging periods for each product category.
The company specializes in the production of red and white dry table wines.
The brand's products include still and sparkling wines, young and aged wines, as well as several top-class wines "DOCG.", in particular the famous champagne "Blanc de Blancs" and the classic Tuscan Chianti ("Chianti Classico").
