Thai whiskey Hong Thong: history, review + interesting facts

Hong Thong - 35% alcoholic beverage from Thailand, produced in 0.3 liter and 0.7 liter containers. The label is light beige with large red letters. Large bottles can be found in red gift boxes.
It's commonly called rum, but that's not quite right. Rum is made from cane, not yeast or rice. It cannot be attributed to whiskey either, because whiskey is based on wheat or corn malt mixed with rye or barley. Hong Thong can be compared to whiskey and rum based on its light color, but that's where the similarities end.
Only Sang Som is more popular than Hong Thong in Thailand for its milder taste and lack of flavor. Hong Thong is similar to purified moonshine with a synthetic herbal flavor.
