Viburnum tincture: 8 recipes at home

The tart fruits of viburnum have long been used to make fruit drinks, jams, wines, liqueurs, bitter and sweet tinctures. Due to the high content of vitamins and minerals in bright red fruits, drinks made from them are not only flavorful, but also healthy.

Tips before you start

  1. You can use vodka or moonshine (alcohol) as an alcohol base. In the first case, the drink will be softer and more pleasant to the taste, in the second - it will have maximum healing properties due to the more intense extraction from the fruit.

  2. If you want to make a tart tincture, collect viburnum (preferably wild) in September, immediately after ripening. If the berry is harvested later, after the first frost, it will get rid of bitterness and a specific flavor, and the drink itself will be more delicate.

  3. You can use raw materials from the freezer, after letting them thaw, or dried (dried) in the oven.

  4. Before infusing, the viburnum is cleaned of twigs and washed, but not pressed (unless specified in the recipe).

A simple recipe for viburnum tincture

For medicinal purposes, the berry aged in alcohol can be crushed, and the squeezed juice can be added to the finished drink for greater concentration. To soften the taste, you can sweeten the raw materials by mixing the berries with sugar (200 g), or add honey (1 tbsp.). л.) in the infusion. Using oak chips fried in a pan (1 tbsp), make a viburnum liqueur. л.). л.) cognac notes are added to the drink (added to the fruit before infusion).

Ingredients

  1. Water - 200 ml

  2. Sugar - 150 g

  3. Viburnum fruits - 500 g

  4. Vodka - 500 ml

The method of preparation

  1. Put the fruit in a glass container.

  2. Boil a thick syrup of water and sugar, let it cool slightly, pour it over the berry.

  3. Fill the remaining space in the jar with vodka, mix well.

  4. Insist the mass in the dark for 1 month.

  5. Filter the drink through cheesecloth, sweeten to taste, and let it rest for 3-4 days.

Recipe for viburnum tincture with spices

Ingredients

  1. Viburnum berries - 300 g

  2. Sugar - 200 g

  3. Vodka - 1 liter

  4. Star anise - 1-2 stars

  5. Allspice (pink) - 5-7 peas

  6. Anise - a pinch

Method of preparation

  1. Put fruits, spices and sugar in a 2-liter container.

  2. Let the mixture brew for 3-4 days until the juice appears.

  3. Pour alcohol over the mass, close the lid.

  4. Leave for 1 month, strain.

Recipe for viburnum and quince liqueur

Apples can be used instead of quince, and frozen berries can be used instead of fresh berries. Lighten the finished tincture with squeezed lemon juice.

  1. Viburnum berries - 250 g

  2. Quince fruits - 250 g

  3. Honey - 200 g

  4. Vodka - 700 ml

The method of preparation

  1. Cut the quince fruit into quarters, remove the seeds.

  2. Pour viburnum into a jar, mash until juice appears.

  3. Add chopped quince to the berry mass, pour vodka over the mass.

  4. Let the mixture stand for 2 weeks in the light, add honey, mix well.

  5. Leave the drink for another 7 days, shaking the container regularly.

  6. Filter the infusion twice through cheesecloth, pour into a bottle, place in the cold for storage.

Recipe for viburnum and sea buckthorn tincture

Similarly, prepare a drink with bird cherry, chokeberry, black chokeberry, black currant, raspberry (you can use several types at once). In addition to pepper, you can use other spices for flavoring: cloves, star anise, anise.

Ingredients

  1. Viburnum berries - 150 g

  2. Sea buckthorn fruit - 150 g

  3. Vodka - 500 ml

  4. Black peppercorns - 20 g

  5. Honey - 1 tbsp.

The method of preparation

  1. Dry the washed viburnum and sea buckthorn fruits a little in the sun.

  2. Pour berries into a jar, pour vodka, close the lid.

  3. Keep the mixture in the dark for 7 days.

Recipe for tincture on viburnum juice

Ingredients

  1. Fresh viburnum juice - 400 ml

  2. Alcohol - 1 liter

  3. Sugar - 300 g

  4. Water - 400 ml

The method of preparation

  1. Heat the water in a saucepan, dissolve the sugar in it, and after boiling, cook the syrup for 5-7 minutes.

  2. Pour the sweet liquid into a glass container, add viburnum juice and alcohol, mix thoroughly.

  3. Close the container tightly, let the mixture brew for 3-4 weeks at room temperature, strain.

Recipe for currant viburnum

Ingredients

  1. Viburnum berries - 200 pcs.

  2. Currant leaves - 100 pcs.

  3. Vodka - ½ liter

  4. Sugar - 1 cup

  5. Water - 1 glass

The method of preparation

  1. From 1 tbsp. sugar and 1 tbsp. water to make syrup.

  2. Boil the leaves in water for 5-7 minutes., strain.

  3. Crush berries, mix with sugar syrup and currant broth, pour vodka.

  4. Seal the container, leave in the cold for 30 days.
