Xu Xu liquor: history, review, how to drink

German strawberry liqueur XUXU is especially popular among ladies and bartenders. The former love it for its natural fruity composition and low strength, the latter - for its bright color and taste, which gracefully complement cocktails.

Strawberry delicacies are produced by Georg Hemmeter GmbH, Germany.

History of the Xu Xu brand

The XuXu liqueur was first released in 1997 and almost immediately won the recognition of European consumers.

The name of the drink can be translated as "kiss-hug" or "smoochy-smoochy": in German, "XUXU" means something similar to "XOXO" in English. This abbreviation is often found in informal correspondence.

The technology for making the liqueur was developed by Underberg, a company famous for its herbal tinctures, back in 1991. However, the original product was presented to consumers only a few years later.

Strawberry puree and lime are used as the basis for the popular liqueur. Fruit mass is up to 66% of the drink volume. For strength, the product is made with high-quality purified premium vodka.

The manufacturer positions XUXU as an exclusively natural liqueur, which is generally true. However, there is also a bit of cunning here: the bright color of the drink is still of synthetic origin - it is given by the additive E129. However, there is no sugar or flavoring in the composition.

The high quality of the German product is confirmed by international awards: the brand has won gold at the World Spirits Award and ISW competitions. Up to 5 million bottles of berry alcohol are sold annually in Europe.
