Tsar Tigran - is a vintage cognac named after the ruler of Great Armenia, King Tigran the Second Great of the Artashesid dynasty. He was distinguished by strength, wisdom and courage. He actively expanded the territory of the country, took care of the formation of the power of Armenians and their statehood. His image is sung in twenty-five operas.

This brand uses exclusively local grape varieties, for example, Voskeat, Garandmak and Chilar. They are grown in the Ararat Valley. The drink is aged in barrels made of oak from the Caucasus for three years.

History of the brandy Tsar Tigran

1905: The largest enterprise was founded in Armenia - Artashat Wine and Cognac Factory. During the Soviet period, his products were on the shelves of stores in all republics. When the state collapsed, the company became the property of the "Great Valley" holding. It got its name in honor of the Ararat Valley.

1998: The creator of the cognac Robert Kazaryan. He was invited by the Armenian-Cypriot company Great Valley and offered to develop an exceptional drink. It has absorbed the author's innovations and winemaking traditions of Armenia.

2020: The modern line is represented by eight types of cognac aged from seven to twenty-five years. The price varies from 1000 to 20,000 rubles. It is still the standard of real Armenian cognac for its unique recipe.

  1. 3 years old, 40%. Rich chestnut color. Soft buttery taste, revealing floral and spicy nuances in the finish. It smells of candied fruits and nutmegs with hints of tobacco.

  2. 5 years old, 40%. Dark copper color. Round and spicy with apple and pear notes. The aroma is woven from fruity, chocolate and tart nutmeg tones.

  3. 7 years old, 40%. Deep copper color. Sweet velvety aroma with hints of raisins and prunes. Tart. The aftertaste is woven from coffee and vanilla notes.

  4. 10 years, 40% of the time. The color of noble amber. Round and soft with a chocolate aftertaste. The aroma bouquet reveals first dried fruits, then vanilla and chocolate.

  5. 12 years old, 40% of the total. A classic representative of old cognacs. Chestnut with golden tints. The aroma is woven from hints of plum, cloves and spices from the East. Deep plum flavor that smoothly transitions into the aftertaste.

  6. 15 years, 40%. Dark amber color. Possesses a chocolate and oak character with nuances of caramel. The aftertaste combines vanilla and spicy notes.

  7. 25 years old, 40% of. Iridescent chestnut color. Fruity taste with tobacco nuances turns into a partially spicy one. Complex flavor combines cinnamon, chocolate and sweet spices.

  8. 30 years old, 40%. Dark copper with golden tints. Slightly oily taste with a dried fruit aftertaste. It smells like cherries, ginger, cinnamon and prunes.

  1. In 1999 and 2000, the drink was awarded the title of "Best Cognac of the Year" at the Moscow professional competition.

  2. In 2011, it won a gold award in the category "Cognacs, Armagnacs and Brandies" at the British competition.

Interesting facts

  1. The Great Valley emblem depicts a lioness holding a spear in her paws. In Armenian folklore, it is a symbol of a nurturing mother. Strong drinks that can increase the strength of the heroes of epics are nicknamed "lion's milk".
