Marquis de Salas Armagnac: history and review of taste

Armagnac with an exquisite "noble" name is produced at the distilleries of the legendary House of Meukow, known to consumers for its excellent French cognacs.
The young brand was created specifically for Russian connoisseurs of strong grape spirits. The company's main facilities are concentrated in the Cognac region, but the Marquis de Salas brand is produced in Gascony, in the small village of Oz.
The history of the brand
The Meukow Company, known to consumers for its fine cognacs, was founded in 1862 by brothers Gustav and August-Christoph Meukow, natives of Silesia. Ten years earlier, they were sent to France by the Russian Tsar Alexander II with an order to organize the supply of cognac for the court.
The company grew rapidly, establishing itself as a producer of elite aged beverages for high-profile individuals.
In the XIX century, Meukow products were served at royal receptions, and in the mid-20th century, the company became the official supplier of the White House and the House of Lords.
In 1979, the Meukow Cognac House merged with the Compagnie de Guyenne and became the property of the Kost family.
Marquis de Salas brand appeared in the company's assortment in 2013. It is produced specifically for the Russian Magnit chain at the Distilleries de Matha distillery, using classic Armagnac technology.
