Dom Pérignon: an overview of flavors and types + how to distinguish a fake

Dom Perignon champagne entered the market in 1921. It was presented by the well-known French wine company "Moet & Chandon", which wanted to immortalize the name of the founder of the wine house in this way.

Dom Pérignon is, first and foremost, an exceptional taste, which, by the way, is always the same (we are talking about the mass market).

Learn more about the drink

Each grape harvest is carefully checked, it must be suitable for both taste and chemical characteristics. We can say that Dom Pérignon is an elite drink, the creation of which is unacceptable in haste and inaccuracies in the preparation.

Another feature of the production of champagne is that the squeezed grape juice is kept in oak barrels for a long time, aging is at least 7 years. And the whole process of producing the drink takes at least 10 years. In this regard, any wine of the brand, even the youngest, has a deep and indescribable taste.

Types and features of Dom Perignon

Dom Pérignon produces three types of champagne:

How to distinguish a fake Dom Pérignon

Here are a few tips on how to distinguish authentic Dom Pérignon champagne from fake:

  1. The sparkling wine has not only a unique taste, but also a unique label, which can rightfully be called the most famous in the world - its design is made in the form of a knight's shield.

  2. The label indicates the year of harvest and grape varieties from which the drink is made.

  3. The labels on the bottle are glued evenly, without streaks. The inscriptions on the label are written correctly, without errors.

  4. Champagne is most often poured into 0.75 liter bottles, but there are exceptions if the wine is a collector's, gift or released for significant dates. In such cases, you can find an exclusive bottle with a volume of one and a half, 3 or 6 liters.

  5. The cork is made of cork material, fixed with a metal guard. Every detail is characterized by branded elements.

  6. Do not forget about the barcode. On a real bottle you can see numbers from "30" to "37", but most often "31". This indicates that the champagne is produced in France. Otherwise, you are looking at a fake.

  7. The price of the drink is higher than average, it belongs to the elite range.

Before buying Dom Pérignon champagne, examine the bottle well to buy only high-quality original goods.
