Tankard gin: history and types

Tanqueray - a premium gin produced by Diageo in Scotland. The company was founded in 1830 by the son of a priest, Charles Tanqueray.
To successfully compete with competitors, especially with gin Gordon's label, Tankard had to develop a fundamentally new technology for the production of four times distilled gin, which gives the alcohol a particularly soft, clean and balanced taste.
The history of gin
The original combination of classic double-distilled alcohol with traditional ingredients such as angelica root, coriander, liquorice and, of course, juniper berries, complemented by high-quality water from the Bloomsbury area of London, quickly made the drink very popular.
By the way, the latter fact is reflected in the design of the bottle of the Anglo-French gin.
It takes the form of a hydrant that was once used to pump the same delicious water into the first distillery of the Tankerays.

In addition, it was probably the pursuit of water quality that prompted the brand's owners to move gin production to Scotland, where it remains to this day.
This happened after the destruction of the distillery, which occurred as a result of one of the massive German bombings during World War II.
Of all the equipment of that time, only one single copper still, called the Old tom, has survived. The owners carefully transported this namesake of the popular gin variety in the 18th century to a new location, where it still works for the benefit of juniper drink lovers around the world.
Types of Tankard gin
The American version contains 47.3% of the volume.
The modification, mainly focused on Europe, contains 43.1% of the volume.
And Canada, Australia and New Zealand are supplied with a product with a strength of 40% by volume.
Although Tanqueray is popular in many countries around the world, it is especially popular with the people of the United States.
There is even a legend that it was the first drink served in the White House after the abolition of Prohibition in 1933.
So it is no coincidence that the owners of the distillery have released several additional variations of the drink, aimed specifically at overseas consumers.
Tanqueray Rangpur, whose composition was enriched with lime, ginger and bay leaf.
